Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine International Conference on Integrative Medicine of Neurology and Cancer Diagnosis

HEFEI, China – The International Conference on Integrative Medicine of Neurology and Cancer Diagnosis was recently held in Hefei, China. Co-hosted by the Anhui Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Collaborative Innovation and the Anhui Geriatrics Society, the event brought together leading experts in neurology, oncology, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from China and abroad for an in-depth dialogue on the integrative diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders and cancer.

Integration is no longer an option—it is a necessity.

Neurodegenerative diseases and malignant tumors are among the most pressing challenges facing health systems worldwide. A single therapeutic pathway rarely covers the full complexity of these conditions: cancer care must balance efficacy with quality of life, while neurological disease demands a shift from functional recovery toward holistic patient care. A growing body of clinical evidence shows that integrative medicine is far more than simply adding herbs to pharmaceuticals. It is the complementary synergy of two medical systems across diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

This conference was designed to provide exactly such a platform—multidisciplinary and cross-cultural. Drawing on frontline clinical practice, speakers explored the latest advances in integrated TCM–Western approaches to neurological and oncological diseases, signature therapies, and standardized care pathways, through keynote addresses and thematic sessions. A dedicated dialogue session brought Chinese and international experts together to discuss international collaboration in integrative care, evidence-based research, and the translation of clinical findings into practice.

Making traditional medicine visible—in a modern way.

The sight of Chinese and international scholars exchanging ideas before the conference—formal, yet warm—captured the spirit of the event. TCM's pattern differentiation, acupuncture, and external therapies are increasingly entering the mainstream of global medicine through rigorous clinical research and standardized pathways. In return, modern precision diagnostics, targeted therapy, and whole-course management offer traditional medicine a new framework for innovation.

Consensus emerged that the direction of integrative care for neurological and cancer patients is clear; what matters now is implementation: building more standardized and reproducible clinical pathways; strengthening evidence-based research so that integrative protocols stand on solid ground; and deepening international collaboration for shared knowledge and shared talent.

One conference builds a connection; sustained commitment builds the future.

The success of this conference provided a valuable platform for academic exchange and further consolidated consensus on the development of integrative medicine. The organizers affirmed their commitment to leveraging Anhui's rich TCM resources and clinical strengths—advancing integrative care from academic dialogue to clinical practice, and from regional cooperation to global conversation, so that more patients can benefit from the wisdom of both medical traditions.
